A Nice Autumnal Salad

This salad can be enjoyed at anytime of year. I particularly like it in the fall.

About ½ cup mixed salad greens per serving. Make sure there are some bitter greens in there.
Half moon slices of red onion or shallot
Sharp cheese, like cheddar, cut into small cubes
About ½ tart red apple per serving, cut into small cubes
Olive oil
Salt
Black pepper
A bit of dried or fresh herbs, like basil, rosemary, or oregano, optional
Lemon juice, even more optional

Place the salad greens in individual salad bowls, and top with the onion, cheddar and apple. Be generous with all of these ingredients. The combination is very tasty. Generously salt and pepper the top and christen with olive oil. Add a sprinkle of fresh or dried herbs if you want. Finish with a squirt of lemon juice if you must.
